Flying Dutchman Vintage Watercolor Tin

$85.00
sold out

Lovely vintage “Flying Dutchman” tobacco tin with sailor and ship on the front and gold around the rim. From what I can tell this piece dates from the 1960’s. I love the color scheme of this tin, and used it as inspiration when choosing a cohesive color scheme for the paints.

The Flying Dutchman contains a handmade porcelain palette with 7 paint wells and a blank well in the middle for mixing. Colors included: Black Ocher, Flying Dutchman Blue (a custom blue I formulated to match the blue of the tin), Sage, Gold, Mayan Red, New Bedford Blue (a deep navy), and Yellow Ocher.

All paints are handmade, nontoxic and eco friendly- made with pure pigments and a honey based gum arabic binder. The porcelain palette is affixed in the tin with magnets at the bottom, making this a better studio option than a travel palette. Not intended for children as small parts present a choking hazard.
